May/June Hiking

Chris and Reid pointing to the "Sunfish Pond" sign after a 4 mile hike up! This hike was in one of our favorite places to hike here, the Delaware Water Gap (along the Delaware River which separates NJ from PA). It is the place that most reminds us of hiking back home.

Reid and I enjoying a lunch stop at Sunfish Pond before the 4mile hike back. Watch out for snakes on this hike!

Our happy little hiker! (and no, he did not hike the whole 8 miles, but part of it!) Chris lugged him in the backpack, however probably our last season Reid will fit in it. :(

Love the spring green trail!

An after hike daddy 'n Reid snuggle.

Next hike: Palisades Park along the Hudson (separating NJ from NY) at Peanut Falls and Giant Stairs. We had a really steep hike down.

Along the Hudson, just beginning a few miles of boulder climbing aka. "The Giant Stairs" after Peanut Falls.

Riverside, Hudson, NJ

Amidst the "Giant Stairs" boulder climb! I had it easy compared to Chris!

Another hike along the Del Water Gap..."Three Mountain ponds" this is the hike where we unfortunately learned about ticks in the warm spring/summer weather. :( Not an issue on our fall/winter hikes here!

One of the "three mountain ponds" in which we stopped for lunch. There was a black bear sighting while we were hiking in this area!

Moving along to the Merrill Creek Reservoir for a 7 mile hike around. (Unfortunately another "tick hike" as we call it...really don't even get me started on those nasty little suckers!)

We went with one of our favorite families on our block in NJ and here are all "the boys".

Lots of deer on this hike!

Cool tree line.

Reid and Chris with the Chaikin Family.

Chris and I with all "the boys".
We do love to hike and we'll find it wherever we go! However we do miss the "real mountains" of back home, but we'll always make the best of it. :) See you next time!

Catching Up!

Hello Again! It has been a long time! Since it has been over 3 months and we have crammed so much into that time...and we probably have a thousand pictures, I will keep the verbiage short and take you through a quick picture walk of our life since you have heard from us last. (Exception: hiking pics will be on a separate blog entry). Oh and the picture above is of Reid enjoying a day in NYC on top of a double decker bus!

Note: If you are on facebook, you have probably already seen these pictures! I tend to download there more frequently. :)

The infamous Central Park Fountain, sans water! (This was back in April, prior to the warmer spring weather).

Chris and I enjoying a chilly inaugural trip to Ellis Island. Fantastic immigration museum there!

Reid on the ferry to Ellis/Liberty Island.

My dad and his wife Valerie joined us for a week in April. Awesome visit! Here we are on the ferry to Ellis/Liberty Island.

A tired Reid after packing in so much activity when Grandpa John and Grandma Valerie were here!

Moving along to the Turtleback Zoo in NJ, Reid enjoyed his first carousel ride with Chris!

Just chillin' at the casa!

Back to NYC, the Empire State Building.
Wall Street, NYC.

Greenwich, NYC.

Times Square, the view from atop a double decker bus!

Later in April, Chris' mom and her husband, Dave came for a week visit. We did lots of touring in NYC! Here is nanny Heather with Reid and I on a heatwave day in NYC.

Grand Central Station, really quite beautiful!

Read the sign.

A whole other level of Grand Central station where we even ate lunch!

...and Reid took his first NYC subway ride!

Still, another record breaking hot, humid, heatwave day in NYC where Reid enjoyed his first popsicle in Central Park. (Yes, his first...we are lamo healthy parents! It was a fruit juice one by the way). ;) He wasn't quite sure what to do with it!

The fam in front of the "Great Lawn" in Central Park, NYC...in the background are more people than we have ever seen there! It was packed.

The water is now in the fountain and Chris and Reid enjoyed the rare opportunity to play inside!

At Central Park, in front of the sailboat pond, sits Grandpa Dave, Nanny Heather, with Reid and Chris of course.

Our casa in the spring. Reid is frolicking around our pretty spring flowers.

Mama and Reid pose for a shot.

Backyard fun:
Hmmmm, what does this do?

OH!! That's what this does!!

Happy boy! Ready to spray mama..

Nice! This hose thing is really fun!

Waaatch oouuut...

Hee hee

Love the car dude

Sprinkler fun...

More sprinkler fun!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

My BFF Kim came out for a wonderful visit! Here she is with Reid on the Ellis/Liberty Island ferry.

Me 'n silly Reid on Ellis Island with Miss Liberty in the background.

At our annual block party around this same time, Chris captured this shot of the after effects of the kids mini-pie eating contest.

Back in to Central Park, Chris and I.

No more playing in the CP fountain, but BFF Kim and I posing in front.

Kim, me, 'n Reid getting ready to go for our "firefly walk"...they are so magical and abundant this time of year (we are now talking late June)
Daddy pushing Reid on the "firefly walk"

If you look closely...those little lights are actually fireflies. We love them!

Little cutie, the same night.

Playing at a playground in Central Park. Reid loving the big daddy swing pushes.

I love to play! That slide was fun. :)
So, as you can see, lots of wonderful guests coming to visit us, a nice April, May, and June...and to see some pics of us (hiking) when we are not in the city...check out the hiking blog entry!
